Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil from the gallery In Situ, winner of the 'Prix Meurice 2010' for Contemporary Art, has exhibited his 'Blackout in New York'. For the first time ever, the winner of the Prix Meurice is exhibiting an unusual and original presentation, which artificially extinguishes the lights of New York city, from a strategic and panoramic point of view.
Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil from the gallery In Situ, winner of the 'Prix Meurice 2010' for Contemporary Art, has exhibited his 'Blackout in New York'. For the first time ever, the winner of the Prix Meurice is exhibiting an unusual and original presentation, which artificially extinguishes the lights of New York city, from a strategic and panoramic point of view. From 28 February to 5 March 2010, Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil delivered a miniature Blackout from the tower of the New York Palace hotel. Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil invited the public to experience his 'Blackout in New York' communally on the night of 4 and 5 March 2010. Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil was present on the night to guide visitors through the original experience.
The Blackout was showcased immediately afterwards at the In Situ gallery in Paris from March, 18th 2010. Before the end of 2010, a new blackout project in London on October 14th and later on in Tokyo will be revealed. Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil was awarded the 'Prix Meurice 2009/10' for his Blackout project of New York and Tokyo. The annual art prize, judged by a panel of professionals, consists of a !20 000 prize with the aim to help young talents of the french art scene to shine on an international stage.
