The Meurice Prize for contemporary art 2009-2010

26 May 2009 For the second consecutive year, Le Meurice presents the Meurice Prize for contemporary art, highlighting its commitment to promoting young artists on the French scene and embracing an ever more creative future.



The Meurice Prize for contemporary art 2008/2009 was awarded to Zoulikha Bouabdellah, represented by Galerie La B.A.N.K, for her monumental sculpture in white and gold lacquered resin, with exhibitions at Art Dubai, Art Brussels, the Austrian Cultural Forum, MoCADA, CIP in New York and London.
On Tuesday May 26th, the jury for the Meurice Prize for contemporary art convened in camera.

Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Ambassador for the Award, Henri Loyrette, Chairman and Director of the Louvre, Marta Gili, Director of the Musée du Jeu de Paume, Jennifer Flay, Artistic Director of the FIAC, Colette Barbier, Director of the Ricard Corporate Foundation, Marc-Olivier Wahler, Director of the Palais de Tokyo, Montse Aguer, Director of the Centre for Dalinian Studies, Philippe Dagen, Writer and Lecturer at Paris I University and Franka Holtmann, General Manager of Le Meurice shortlisted seven artists and their galleries (listed below in alphabetical order of the galleries):

2. Gyan Panchal, Galerie Frank Elbaz
3. Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil, Galerie In Situ
4. Katinka Bock, Galerie Jocelyn Wolff
5. Julien Prévieux, Galerie Jousse Entreprise
6. Céleste Boursier-Mougenot, Galerie Xippas
7. Loris Gréaud, Galerie Yvon Lambert

On October 1st, the jury will select the winners who will jointly receive the Meurice Prize for contemporary art: €10,000 for the artist and €10,000 for his or her gallery.
